Astoria’s Much-Loved New Orleans Restaurant Takes the Party Across the Street

Sugar Freak, the much loved NOLA-themed restaurant born and bred in Astoria is almost back, and brings New York as close to Bourbon Street as one can get. Original owner Michele Addeo, restaurateur James Paloumbis, and Chef Cristian Fajardo have teamed up, and are getting ready to serve the most authentic NOLA fare to Sugar Freak’s ardent fans who have been patiently waiting for the re-opening.

Living in larger quarters the team has brought Sugar Freak’s offerings up a notch offering new signatures such as a selection of Seafood Boils, Waffle Tacos, and Beignet Eggs Benedict. Diners will also experience freshly baked cakes and pies, by none other than trained pastry chef Michele Addeo herself, to go along with the lauded Deep Fried Banana Pudding, and Traditional Dump Cake.

The authentic homegrown feel of the restaurant has not changed and every piece of furniture from the vintage plates on the walls to the tin ceiling has moved with them. Everything is upcycled, recycled, and repurposed.

Additionally, to add to the festive vibe, Sugar Freak is now a counter service restaurant, making ordering simple. Just show up, place your order and sit. We take care of the rest. For the first time in Sugar Freak’s life, there will be delivery, catering, and lunch service too. So more opportunity to get your Sugar Freak on!

Watch for our grand opening mid-June.
